2018 Summer Party
In Toronto in July, the flowers are bright and the leaves are dense. Everything is so prosperous. After two months of meticulous preparation, the 2018 Summer Party of the Gansu Community Association of Canada was happily held in E.T. Seton Park on July 29. Well, the laughter is still echoing in my ears, and my heart is filled with warm nostalgia.
I drove to the park on the morning of the 29th and saw a sign for the Gansu Community Association of Canada at the entrance of the park. What was surprising and moving was that President Junchang Yang arrived early and greeted people warmly at the intersection with Honorary President Mr. Wei Li, telling every folks the direction to drive. From this moment on, the joy of nostalgia was rippling slightly.

The location I like most this time is towering big trees, thick shade, spacious, safe and relatively independent. As an outdoor gathering place, it is almost perfect. It is the result of repeated researches by Vice President Xiaoning Wang, Secretary Hui Zhao, and Chairwoman Xiaochun Guo of the Association, and they have been to the park for many on-site inspections.
Look, the banner is already drawn. On the table are the special dishes carefully prepared by every fellow members. I haven't eaten it yet, I'm already hungry! The lamb skewers turned over on the grill exude an attractive fragrance, and adults and children want to try the fun of grilling them themselves. Around 11:30 in the morning, everyone took a group photo and enjoyed the hometown food. Talking while eating, the conversation was very enjoyable.

The chief roaster Nancy Hou has worked hard and has a professional level, which is awesome! Behind him is the Secretary, Ms. Hui Zhao, who has changed her impression of being rigorous and diligent, and she is youthful and bright!

At about one o'clock in the afternoon, Xiaoning Wang, the vice president of the Association, began to host. President Junchang Yang first introduced the directors who have contributed for this activity. Vice President Xiaoning Wang expressed her heartfelt thanks to Canada Gansu Federation of Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this event. The sponsors this time include President Junchang Yang and his wife Nancy, Mr. Jingwen Wang, Mr. Zhaoan Sui, Mr. Guoqiang Li, Mr. Xin An, Mr. Botao Jiang, Ms. Xiaoning Wang, Ms. Xiaochun Guo, Ms. Hui Zhao and an anonymous enthusiastic fellow.
Mr. Zhaoan Sui, President of the Canada Gansu Federation of Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Jingwen Wang, the main founder of Platform Computing, and Mr. Guoqiang Li, owner of the GB Hand-Pulled Noodles restaurant, delivered speeches to express their hearts.
Mr. Zhaoan Sui introduced the various activities held since the establishment of the Canada Gansu Federation of Chamber of Commerce, and expressed the willingness of the Chamber of Commerce and the Association to support each other. Mr. Sui said that in the coming year, he will win more summer camp places for the children of fellow Gansu natives.
Mr. Jingwen Wang is unpretentious and respectful. He said that he was from the same place as Mr. Zhaoan Sui and Ms. Xiaoning Wang, and he was a "familiar fellow." Mr. Wang went to Purdue University in the United States for post-doctoral studies in 1990. He started his business in Canada in 1991 and is a well-known Canadian entrepreneur. Coming to Toronto for more than 20 years, it is the first time for my wife, Ms. Hong Liu, to participate in the activities of the Gansu Community Association of Canada. Looking forward to the next activity of the Association.
GB Hand-Pulled Noodles are pure in taste and are very popular among fellow members. In 2018, it was selected as a specialty food on CBC TV in Canada. Mr. Guoqiang Li made a speech, thanking everyone for their support, and welcome to the GB Hand-Pulled Noodles Restaurant.

Some of the fellow members are at ease under the tree and chatting casually. Some are playing chess. Some children are playing in the tents. The gathering of fellow members is like a big family, very relaxing.
In a foreign country, listening to the accent and seeing so many children and grandchildren gather together for joy, it is also very comforting!

At around 3:30 in the afternoon, the event is coming to an end. The volleyball court is beginning to be shady and you can play volleyball! The girls took off their shoes and ran barefoot on the grass. How comfortable it is to play in the arms of Mother Earth!

Around 4:30 in the afternoon, the directors and volunteers almost cleaned up the venue. We also drove home. Pouring rain on the road. Qingchengzi sighed: God was also touched by the deep friendship of fellow Gansu natives.
President Yang said that there are nearly 1,000 Gansu natives scattered across the Greater Toronto Area. There were nearly 150 people in this gathering, the most in recent years. It was the first time for many fellow Gansu folks to participate. Several people came to the party from Ottawa and Windsor.
Dear Gansu folks, let us take care of each other, gather at a suitable time, and spend a good time together.
